See The Reason for That answer below:

The story of Quixote and his loyal companion, Sancho Panza, has been a cherished classic for centuries. Quixote, a gentleman of La Mancha, sets out on a fantastical journey with his companion, Sancho, in search of adventure and glory. Along the way, the two encounter many obstacles, both real and imagined, and their adventures are always entertaining.

On one particular night, as Quixote and Sancho were travelling, Sancho proposed that they stop for the night and he would tell a story to help them sleep. He insisted that all of the goats in the story must be counted.

Quixote, seeing the wisdom in Sancho’s suggestion, agreed and the two decided to make camp under the stars. Sancho began the tale, introducing a shepherd who owned a flock of sheep, which he would tend to each day.

As the shepherd went about his duties, he noticed that a few of his sheep had gone missing. He immediately suspected a wild goat, and so he followed the tracks they left behind until he found the goat in question.

The goat, who was quite friendly, begged the shepherd not to harm him and explained that he was in fact a nobleman in disguise and was trying to find his way home. The shepherd, impressed by the goat’s story, agreed to help the goat and even offered to feed him.

The goat, grateful for the hospitality, asked the shepherd to count all of his goats before he left. The shepherd, happy to oblige, began counting the goats one by one and soon noticed that there were far too many for the herd he had originally assumed.

When the shepherd asked the goat why there were so many of them, the goat replied by saying, “My friends and I were on a mission, and we all got lost. We must have strayed from our path and ended up here. I promise to take good care of them and make sure they are well fed.”

The shepherd was touched by the goat’s kindness and generosity, and he agreed to the offer.

The moral of the story is that even the least of creatures can show great kindness and compassion. No matter how many goats there are, they should all be counted and taken care of.

At the end of the story, Quixote and Sancho had a good night’s rest, knowing that no matter what, they would always be taken care of.
