Woman faces court for leaving boyfriend to suffocate in a suitcase during a game of hide and seek
A woman named Sarah Boone is set to appear in court charged with second degree murder for allegedly leaving her boyfriend to suffocate in a suitcase and taunting him while he pleaded to be released.
Boone was arrested in February 2020 after telling police that she had passed out after zipping her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr, 42, inside the bag during a game of hide-and-seek at their home in Winter Park, Florida.
However, her story unraveled when investigators found a video on her phone showing Torres thrashing around inside the suitcase, desperately telling her: ‘I can’t fing breathe’.
In the video, Boone is allegedly heard telling Torres with a laugh: ‘For everything you’ve done to me. F you. Stupid.’
The video also shows Torres pleading with Boone to let him out of the suitcase, as she laughs and taunts him.
Boone later called 911 and told the operator that her boyfriend was dead. She stated that they had been playing hide-and-seek and she fell asleep, waking up to find him dead in the suitcase.
During the investigation, police discovered that Boone had a history of domestic violence and had been arrested for battery in the past.
Boone is now due to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on January 30th.
