King Charles III of Britain knighted Brian May, the renowned rock guitarist and co-founder of the band Queen, at an investiture ceremony held on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace. The title of Knight Bachelor was conferred upon May in recognition of his contributions to music and charitable causes. Accompanied by his wife, Anita Dobson, a former star of the British TV series “EastEnders,” May accepted the honor. At the age of 75, May is not only a musician but also an astrophysicist. After taking a break from his studies in the 1970s to focus on his band, he obtained his PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007. May is a staunch animal rights advocate and critic of hunting, having founded the Save Me Trust organization in 2010 to campaign against fox hunting and badger culling in the UK.
