The options that are given for this Bing homepage quiz are listed below:
A: Keanu Reeves
B: Cate Blanchett
C: Letitia Wright
The correct answer is Keanu Reeves.
See The Reason for That answer below:
Keanu Reeves has become synonymous with characters who eliminate their foes, so it’s no surprise that a group of new compounds that kill fungi has been named after him by scientists in Germany. The compounds, known as keanumycins, could help combat crop-threatening fungus and treat fungal infections in humans. According to Sebastian Götze, the lead author of the study, the lipopeptides are named after Reeves because he is also highly lethal in his roles.
Although the study was published early last month, Reeves only learned of the naming during a recent Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session. While he appreciated the tribute, he suggested that the compounds be named after one of his lethal alter egos, such as John Wick.
The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, which conducted the study, explained that finding effective antifungal properties is challenging because of the heavy use of fungicides in agriculture, which allows the fungus to develop resistance. Fungal disease causes losses in numerous fruit and vegetable harvests every year, especially strawberries and grapes.
Keanumycins are also environmentally friendly because they are biodegradable and do not persist in the soil like chemical pesticides. Additionally, scientists hope to develop the compounds into pharmaceutical drugs for human use because there are few drugs currently available for treating fungal infections.
Reeves is set to reprise his role as John Wick in the upcoming film “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which will be released in theaters on May 27. Despite high demand for a fifth installment, Reeves has stated that the audience’s response to the fourth film will determine whether another sequel will be made.
